About the Business
MECNW was set up in 1998 as a centre of vocational excellence to combat chronic skills shortages in the engineering, construction and manufacturing sectors. MECNW operates as a GROUP TRAINING ASSOCIATION, delivering industry-specific programmes in a wide range of engineering and related technical skills. GTAs are unique in that they are employer-driven, which means that training programmes at MECNW are developed with direct input from you. In 2007 MECNW merged with Mersey Maritime, the representative body for the 1700 companies on Merseyside that make up the region's maritime sector.
Mersey Maritime is a private-public sector organisation that acts on behalf of the region's maritime sector companies, with a vision to develop a world class cluster of maritime businesses. As the industry's representative body on Merseyside, we work closely with companies of all sizes, providing business support across four main themes: business growth, communications, education and skills and infrastructure.
